What many people might not know that there are some famous and wealthy people on this planet do not live in a fabulous and lavish living instead choose to live in a frugal and humble lifestyle. Some learned from their parents to be humble and to be happy without very many things. Learning the sentiments from the masses and experiencing what simple majority of masses live may have some influences. Some billionaires who became rich after hard work and sacrifices, just prefer to live simply and contented because they came from a poor family. Instead of spending their riches on yachts, mansions, and private jets, they choose to live in a frugal and humble lifestyle; hence worthy of admiration. God loves a humble person.

Some wealthy parents do influence the children on how they live their future. At home, they trained their children to live in a humble and frugal lifestyle. Children were raised being happy with not so much in life. Google co-founder Sergey Brin (Net worth: $30.9 billion) publicly confessed. “From my parents, I certainly learned to be frugal and to be happy without very many things. It’s interesting — I still find myself not wanting to leave anything on the plate uneaten”. Their attitude did not change over time. To be humble is a lasting legacy from their parents.

Life experiences, too, teach us to live a humble lifestyle. A long struggle with the poor masses that resulted in jail may change your perception in life…live in a humble way. That is what happened to Uruguayan president Jose Mujica, who took office in March 2010. He was a former urban guerrilla fighter and imprisoned for 13 years during the military dictatorship in the 1970s and 1980s. He is the world poorest president who lives on a ramshackle farm and donates most of his pay; do laundry by himself outside the house with water comes from a well in a yard, overgrown with weeds; keep watch outside of only two police officers and a three-legged dog. Learning the sentiments from the masses and experiencing what simple majority of masses live may lead us to be humble.

Some celebrities are humble since on their grown up years. Because of humble beginning, they prefer to live as such. Their attitude did not change even though they are now powerful and wealthy. They still want to mingle with the common masses, join ordinary celebrations and daily chores as what they did before. Pope Francis is one of them. Although regarded as the world’s most famous religious leader and reside in Vatican City, he was seen having lunch at the Vatican workers’ cafeteria.  He got a free meal when he popped in unannounced at the Vatican workers’ cafeteria and lined up, tray in hand, along with stunning diners. But what many people might not know is Pope Francis is used to work as door guard and bouncer in a bar in Argentina before his priesthood. Another one is Billionaire Zuckerberg. He is the brain behind Facebook with a net worth of $33.3 billion, wed his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan in his backyard, and the pair was seen eating at a McDonald’s on their Italian honeymoon, instead of having a grand celebration in high places. They came from a humble beginning and continue to live as such.

A humble person doesn’t consider himself superior or inferior. He doesn’t need the attention of others to be elevated his standing in society. He does something for his fellowmen without even taking credit for it or expecting anything in return; does things without regard to personal gain. He thinks his help for others is fulfilled without the need for a thank you and lots of fanfare.

Jesus Christ, who was with his Father in heaven, humbles down to earth in human form and dwell amongst us. The Bible says “Though being divine in nature, he did not claim in fact equality with God,7 but emptied himself, taking on the nature of a servant, made in human likeness, and in his appearance found as a man. 8 He humbled himself by being obedient to death, death on the cross. 9 That is why God exalted him and gave him the Name which outshines all names, 10 so that at the Name of Jesus all knees should bend in heaven, on earth and among the dead. Philippians 1: 2-10

Whether a person is rich, poor, and famous, it is better to be humble; God loves a humble person.
