Feeling Being Loved is a True Happiness

                 By Vic Odarve

“My husband wants to die in my arms”, said Celine Dion, who took time off from singing engagement to care for her husband, René Angélil, who is battling throat cancer. “But when you have family around and knows he is being loved, I think it helps tremendously”, she added.

Kids feel they are being loved

Feeling being loved is a true happiness. Although fame, wealth, and pleasure make people happy, the feeling of being loved is a true happiness. Feeling being loved by your family, friends and relatives give a pleasant emotions. Also being loved by a community where you live in brings peace of mind; inspire to help others. More so, doing work that you truly love give strength and generates ingenuity. Experiencing of being loved and loving on what you are doing in life is a true happiness.

Happiness enables us to hurdle the ups and downs

Happiness fuels us to thrive in ups and downs of life.

Feeling being loved by our loved ones, family, friends and relatives affect us physically and mentally in countless ways. The happiness provides us with the fuel to thrive in the high and lows we encounter on our journey as human beings. It is the feeling of being loved that enable us to lift up over tragedies, sufferings, or painful moments of life. The feeling we got   through the spoken voice and written words and other expressions of supports keep our world go round. Like the husband of Celine Dion, although anguishing in pain over his sickness, but dying over in her arms, is itself an experience of true happiness. Feeling being loved is all that matters!

Doing something that gives you pleasure

Doing something that gives you pleasure

Doing charitable works in society, and living morally upright, turn out to be a true happiness. You will be loved by the people; a feeling that gives a sense of fulfillment of the purpose of your life; you know what you live for. Feeling loved cheers your life as a member of the society. The helping of the needy, poor, and those who have less in life and never expecting in return is God’s wisdom. Mother Theresa of India has done such thing; bringing help to suffering humanity. It is a true happiness.

With family around, it brings happiness

With family around, it brings happiness

More so, doing work that you truly love gives strength and generates ingenuity. This is a true happiness. The love of what you are doing keeps you consistently perform at higher levels. Your work gives you less stress. Edison, Einstein, and Newton, have something in common…they truly loved their work. Because of the work and dedication, the scientific world owes much from them since the invention of light bulbs to the theory of relativity and gravity in Physics. They do enjoy their job, and that’s why they are creative and resourceful —because they are.

While normal happiness derives from fame, wealth, and pleasure is dependent on material things that may lose in a blink of an eye, true happiness from feeling being loved can be felt by all walks of life…poor and rich alike. Feeling being loved gives fulfilling lives; brings peace to your mind, heart and soul. It is incomparable to happiness that material things bring. “Even I have a hectic work schedule, I go back once a month to help my dad and mom in the province to clean the house. I could buy everything for me, but could not ever even compare their love for me to any parents out there”, confessed one of the professors in a university. Feeling being loved really matters.

Staying Together

Staying Together

Feeling being loved gives us the true happiness that keeps us growing stronger to pace ourselves the ups and downs of life. Whether we are born poor, rich, and famous, feeling being loved is experiencing a true happiness!

If you feel nobody cares or loves you, you are worthless and your existence is awful to describe!

Try a Frugal Lifestyle, Please!

                      By Vic Odarve

Unless we are Bill Gates, Rockefeller, and other famous billionaires, living in a frugal lifestyle is a must.  Frugal living lifestyle frees us from debt, entails savings, and steers to a comfortable life. Freeing of debts means stretching your budget and meet both ends before monthly salary. With careful spending, one can set aside a certain amount for saving. Barring circumstances outside our control, with savings and debt free, life without any financial problems makes living comfortable. Try a frugal lifestyle, please!

Debt ridden individuals have something to do with someone’s state of controlling the money. They may have plenty of money coming into their pockets, but they could be spending unwisely. Bad habits and attitude takes their toll that they are not careful in the spending. Usually jealousy and insecurity. People sink in debt cannot sleep comfortably if he cannot acquire new iPhone, iPads, I-pods, etc. They feel being left behind. In a society, where bigwigs and famous personalities are adorned, they also want to be the chosen, the beloved, and the esteemed. That’s why, more often they dine in expensive restaurants and luxurious hotels, take fancy vacations, and living in a classy subdivision. It is a life unbalance equation; where expenses are greater than income, resulting in a bottomless debt.

Family reunions need not be expensive

Conversely, frugal lifestyle goes in the opposite direction. Handling of money is done properly that results in savings. Spending money is just enough and controlled to provide for the basic needs of the family. Expenses must always be less than income with ample savings as an excess. Reduce unnecessary expenses. Putting diligently certain money for savings account. A habit to save even a small amount. Only buy new cars, clothes, and new gadgets once have a financial freedom. They set goals for the golden years ahead since nobody knows how long we live. Frugal living means spending less than what we have earned.

Living without significant debt and having savings for the future results of a comfortable life. With peace and happiness!  The journey will be pleasurable. Debt free people are inspired; feel an overwhelming sense of security.

However, there are situations in life when we are forced into a world of financial distress. Losing jobs, health problems where hospital bills consumed your savings, and other similar events outside our control. Then we realized that money is out of reach. But at least, your savings in the bank, have helped to cushion the impact.

It’s all part of the journey of life —fighting to live another day. Definitely gruesome, but for those who earn a meager income, frugal lifestyle becomes a necessity!

Perception of Mathematics as a Difficult Course

                 By Vic Odarve

Students, as well as parents, used to perceive math as one of the courses that give them headaches and nervous throughout in their educational career. There is a perception that those who have exceptional math grades after secondary level may enroll math extensive courses like engineering and computer science, while those who have poor have then enroll in other courses. They never realize that mathematics can be learned like any other courses. We are all created mathematically capable.

Rocket Irie- Math learning at an early age

The perception that math is difficult intensifies as science advances. Math is the language of science; hence it follows in that direction. Parents usually complaint that they could not help their students’ assignments as the lessons are out of their own world of understanding. Because of this perception, students, too, escape courses that cover extensive mathematics; and instead choose those with few mathematical descriptions. This is how they perceive; math puts them in frightening mode.

On the same line of perception universities and colleges require enrollees to pass qualifying entrance examination before accepting a particular degree. Math is the backbone of such examination. The qualifying entrance exams will determine the student’s fitness/capability for the career to choose. Those with good math scores for math extensive careers while those on boundary line may choose other fields of discipline.

But no matter how difficult mathematics is, the skill to understand and master the course can be learned. Except for those few gifted individuals, skills to manipulate and analyze mathematical concepts can be developed through hard work and dedication. Einstein, for instance, was not impressive in math during college days such that his professors did not recommend him for a university position after graduation in 1900. It was his work, dedication dealing with mathematical investigation concerning the foundations of field physics that yielded the elegant equation E= MC2.

Wrong perception about math generally generates fear and passivity to learn and as a result your life becomes a whole mess. Like Einstein, success does not just come by accident. You work yourself through it. Have the courage to break away from negative perception and set the pace and others will follow.

Math-Anxious Parents

                By Vic Odarve

“Math is difficult. I could not get along very well with numbers. Just a set of equations and worded problems got me nervous and frightened”, exclaimed one of the parents whose daughter was at university studying engineering course. He is not alone. He may be one of the hundreds of parents following their child’s math performance at university. Indeed, math is difficult and providing help our students in math is one of the parental problems.

Parents must teach their kids on some apps program

Faced with the growing emphasis in Math in all schools from kindergarten to diploma levels, parents must assist math assignments to their children to whatever levels they are in in the education. It is a parental responsibility to see to it that progress has been made on their studies in all the courses. It is a part of parental monitoring process in order to guide them and what part of the study they could be of help.

With the advancing technology, math expands rapidly, such that most parents are left behind. Modern math, from kindergarten to university courses, is becoming complex that most parents no longer understand the whys behind at every step in computations. In the elementary level, it goes beyond the fundamental of addition and subtraction. Algebraic and probability equations in secondary education often grow into combinatorics and number theory, and differential equations and advanced math in tertiary level are coupled with transformations. These issues are out of the parental mathematical worlds. These require deep understanding that most parents are already grasping their breath. That’s why oftentimes they ignored their child’s request for assistance. Simply, it is because they do not understand as well. They could not give since they don’t have. Faced with difficulty, math anxious parents just keep their mouth shut and bite their lips in silence.

Parents have trouble understanding math notes

It is a parental woe. Parents look helpless. Hiring a private tutor is an option but most could not afford. They are trying to help the children in math but how. Some researchers suggest that  parents may enroll in math classes; employ learning tools such as math books or apps that may enable them to interact with the children in positive ways; and coordinate closely with the teachers on new teaching techniques and strategies. These may work, at least, to some degree.

Math-anxious parents are common in our modern society. But math is part of our life. Whether we like it or not, we must be in good terms with math. It is time for the parents to stop saying ‘I don’t like math’. There is no day without math. It not only describes our world, but it underpins everything we do. God bless!

How to Develop Student’s Math Skills?

                                   By Vic Odarve

Like a game of chess, math involves analyses, deep understanding, and practice. Analyzing every steps as to why it is necessary is very critical in math calculations. Coupled with the analyses, deep understanding of the given information related to the problems makes the situation clear; hence solution will appear. Finally, practice by reworking similar types of math problems will give the students a thorough understanding. These habits develop student’s math skills.

Math lectures

Math lectures

Yes, in math, analyses of the full problems must be pictured out. These include the given information and the questions about the problems. Then think of the approach, methods to be employed, and the principle to be involved that you think will work on the problems, leading to its solution. If however you could not get through, review the lecture notes, if whatever, how the teacher works on the similar problems. Your approach can be different, but it can still be just as effective and yield the same answer. This prepares the students perk up to think of possible results; thus developing their mathematics skills.

Math exam

Math exam

Like the game of chess, deep understanding on every movement matters. With a sound foundation in the theories and principles, math problems can be worked out simpler. It also builds confidence. If it involves complex formulas, break it down into little parts. Analyze and read the steps. If you don’t understand, take a break. Your brain will continue to work on the problem subconsciously. You will often find that after a little work on the steps that initially baffled you, these make sense. Hence, it would be necessary to strive to understand mathematical concepts and its applications and what the math problems are all about. Understanding will develop your skills in math.

Practice math by reworking the same problems until no hitches on your solution. Work on your own until you are familiar with the type of the problems. It will give you an experience of what occurred. If you get stuck up, see your lecture notes. On applied math problems, always check your final answer if it is logical or reasonable. Always check the units of measurement involve as units sometimes will tell you that you get a mistake. Rework your classroom math problems at home until you are confident that you can do it alone. Practice makes perfect, after all.

Math is difficult but with the habit of analyzing, understanding the formulas and concepts, and ceaseless practice, it will grow your skills. And who knows that one day, you will become a mathematician.
